Charles Fremantle
Charles Fremantle was the captain of the British navy and was the first settler to land on Western soil. He was also the first to explore the Swan River. Charles Fremantle was born in Buckinghamshire and was the son of an admiral in the British navy. He first entered the navy as a cadet in 1824 and helped rescue survivors of a shipwreck off the coast of England. Charles Fremantle married Isabella Wedderburn in 1836 and had three children named Emily, Celia and Louise.
